Independent credit scoring

Compare carbon credits like-for-like.

Our scoring system rates every credit on integrity, additionality, permanence and delivery risk — registry-agnostic, transparent, and built for procurement teams who need defensible decisions.

The four pillars

Every credit, evaluated on the same four dimensions.

Integrity

Methodology rigour, MRV quality, third-party verification status and the credibility of the issuing registry.

Additionality

Evidence the project would not have happened without carbon finance — financial, regulatory and common-practice tests.

Permanence

Reversal risk over the credit lifetime, buffer pool coverage and the durability of the underlying carbon storage.

Delivery Risk

Operational, jurisdictional and counterparty risk affecting whether the credit will actually be issued and transferred on time.

How the score is built

From raw project data to a single 0–100 score.

  1. 01

    Data ingestion

We pull project documents, registry records, MRV reports, satellite data and any independent ratings into a normalised profile.

  2. 02

    Pillar scoring

Each of the four pillars is scored 0–100 by rubric, with weighted sub-criteria specific to the project type (forestry, cookstoves, ARR, DAC, etc.).

  3. 03

    Composite score & badge

We combine the pillars into a single 0–100 Terminal Carbon score and a letter band (AAA → C) shown on every project card.

  4. 04

    Continuous review

Scores are re-evaluated when new MRV reports, registry events or material news appear — never frozen at listing time.

What you can rely on

Independent. Transparent. Registry-agnostic.

We are not a registry, not a developer, and not paid by issuers to assign a score. The framework is published, the inputs are auditable, and every project page shows the underlying evidence.

  • Published rubric and weightings — no black-box ratings.
  • Same framework applied to Verra, Gold Standard, Puro, ART/TREES and bilateral projects.
  • Score history and re-evaluation log on every project page.
  • Conflicts of interest disclosed on the project profile.
